Call to Artists for the Revelation Renaissance Show

April 23- May 15, 2022, at City Arts Factory

CityArts Orlando will host the upcoming Revelation Renaissance art show from April 23 –
May 15, 2022, with artists sharing their interpretations of the imagery and storytelling from
the Book of Revelation.

For Orlando artist, Matt Duke, the Book of Revelation has given him plenty of emotional
inspiration. Duke grew up in an evangelical household, which he was a mixed bag of
negative and positive experiences.

“As a child, the Book of Revelation gave my imagination plenty of fuel,” said Duke. “Every
night, I imagined my family being raptured without me. I was paralyzed by the thought of
having to go through the End Times alone.”

Duke has mostly been working digitally lately, although he has experience in other mediums. His work has the feel of a graphic novel — a look that goes well with such a dramatic story.

“I’m looking forward to sharing this fantastical story through my current lens,” said Duke.

In early February, CityArts Orlando issued a call to artists to submit their work for the
Revelation Renaissance art show, which will be held at the CityArts Factory at 39 S.
Magnolia, Orlando.

The first-place winner will receive $10,000 for their best depiction of the
Book of Revelation. Second place will receive $2500, third place $1000, and the People’s
Choice winner will receive $1000.

Artists can find more information, submission guidelines, and inspiration for their
submissions at revelationrenaissance.com.
